Everyone has been asking us to rename the “wifebeater.” The “A-shirt,” “athletic tee,” personally my vote is for “white tank top” (seems simple enough)…
We are looking for something much more catchy & are asking you to help us CHANGE THE NAME. Please post your suggestions. Once we have enough super ideas we’d like to send out a massive survey to vote on the best. We will be happy to reward the winner with a free “not a wifebeater” tank.
Get creative - good luck!!

Welcome to our site! We want to introduce liveawear, a nonprofit organization founded in 2005 dedicated to inspiring activism and transforming attitudes about relationship abuse. Partner violence is a leading cause of death to women in the United States — each day 3 women are killed by their intimate partners.
liveawear is preparing to send a powerful message with the launch of its ‘Not a Wifebeater’ campaign. We are setting out to remove the term, used to describe a tank top, from the fashion vernacular. Wifebeaters are people who physically and/or emotionally abuse their partners. Not tanktops.
This term has led to the numbing of the public toward abuse. It is messages such as these that minimize the experience of victims of partner violence. This type of detachment is condoning or making light of devastating trauma. It has the effect of perpetuating violence. By not taking this issue seriously, victims are discouraged to come forward and reach out for help. liveawear’s initiatives will bring into sharp focus societal attitudes that promote violence and encourage changes in the way we view domestic violence, with the goal of working toward eliminating it.
Please join our campaign.
